Sarah Walko is a New York based artist with a knack for collecting objects of both organic and inorganic substance. Her installations, with the use of test tubes, microscope slides, and lightbulbs, resemble intricate laboratories where living organisms are meticulously displayed in this consideration of the act of collecting and remembering. Walko’s interest in creating her own “visual language” for this desire to collect and remember is reflected in these test tube installations as a scientific methodology that visually and schematically records and preserves each object. As such, the link between nature and art is witnessed through the memories and stories contained by each tiny object.
